Terms of Service
Effective date: May 28, 2026 · Last updated: May 28, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Rafeeq (رفيق), an Arabic-first family coordination platform for Gulf families. By creating an account or using Rafeeq in any way, you agree to these Terms.
Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and use your data.
Questions? Contact us at privacy@rafeeeq.app.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By using Rafeeq, you confirm that:
- • You are at least 18 years old, or using the app under adult supervision
- • You have read and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy
- • You have the authority to agree on behalf of any users you add to your space, including minors and household workers
If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use Rafeeq.
2. Description of Service
Rafeeq provides a digital platform for Gulf families to coordinate daily household life: morning routines, tasks, calendar events, shared expenses, mood check-ins, AI-powered suggestions, and more.
Beta status
Rafeeq is currently in a limited beta program. The software may have bugs, incomplete features, or service interruptions. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service during the beta period. Features described in marketing materials may still be in development.
3. Accounts and Registration
- Phone verification required — You must verify your phone number to create an account. One account per phone number.
- Accurate information — You must provide accurate name and profile information. False identity is not permitted.
- Account security — You are responsible for your account's security. Notify us immediately at privacy@rafeeeq.app if you suspect unauthorized access.
- One identity — Rafeeq is designed around one identity per person in multiple spaces, not multiple accounts per person.
4. Family Spaces and Roles
Rafeeq is organized around spaces — Family, Clan, Friends, Community, and Individual. Members within each space hold roles (head of family, parent, adult, child, domestic worker, etc.) that determine what they can see and do.
Space owner responsibilities
- • The space owner is responsible for the members they add
- • Do not add members without their knowledge and consent
- • Ensure members understand how the app works and what data is shared
Minors in spaces
- • Parents and guardians are responsible for any minors they add
- • By adding a minor, you represent that you have parental or guardian authority over them
Domestic workers in spaces
- • Domestic workers must be added with their knowledge and consent
- • You agree to treat domestic workers with dignity and fairness
- • You may not use Rafeeq to monitor or surveil workers in ways they have not been informed of
- • The app enforces strict data access limits for the domestic worker role (see Privacy Policy Section 3)
5. Subscriptions and Payments
Plans
Rafeeq offers Free, Family Pro, Family Plus, Clan, Friends, Individual Pro, and Community plans. Current pricing is displayed before purchase in the app.
Consumer billing (iOS and Android)
- • Subscriptions are processed through Apple In-App Purchase or Google Play Billing
- • Auto-renewal: Your subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date
- • Cancellation: Cancel anytime through your Apple ID Settings or Google Play subscription settings — not through Rafeeq directly
- • Refunds: Apple's and Google's refund policies apply to purchases made through their respective platforms
B2B billing (schools and organizations)
Community plan invoices for schools and organizations are processed through MyFatoorah. Payment terms are as specified in the invoice issued by Rafeeq.
Price changes
For subscriptions purchased through Apple App Store or Google Play, price changes are managed through Apple's and Google's respective consent flows — they will notify you of any price change and obtain your consent before the new price takes effect. We will also provide advance in-app notice of upcoming price changes at least 30 days before the effective date.
For B2B (Community plan) invoicing, Rafeeq will provide written notice of price changes at least 30 days in advance.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Rafeeq only for lawful purposes and in ways that do not harm others. You will not:
- • Harass, intimidate, or harm any person — including family members or workers in your space
- • Upload or share illegal content
- • Attempt to access data belonging to other users beyond your role permissions
- • Reverse engineer, copy, or create derivative works of the Rafeeq app
- • Use automated tools to access or scrape the service
- • Use Rafeeq in ways that violate the laws of Kuwait
7. Domestic Worker Provisions
Rafeeq treats domestic workers as first-class family members with explicit dignity protections. This is a deliberate product decision, and it carries binding obligations for space owners.
- • Domestic workers added to your space are people deserving of respect and privacy
- • You may not add a worker to your space without their knowledge and genuine consent
- • You may not use Rafeeq to create records of worker behavior without appropriate disclosure to the worker
- • The app's restricted data access for the domestic worker role (no financial data, no location of others) is a protection for all parties — you may not attempt to circumvent these limits
Violations of this section are grounds for account suspension.
8. User Content
- You own your data — The content you create in Rafeeq (tasks, events, expenses, family wall posts) belongs to you and your family. We do not claim ownership of your family's data.
- License to operate — By using Rafeeq, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your content solely to provide the service to you. The license you grant ends when you delete your account, at which point your content is removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Handling of content you contributed to a shared space if you leave that space (without deleting your account) is being finalized during the beta period.
- AI processing — When you use AI features, your content may be processed by Anthropic's Claude models. This is governed by Anthropic's terms and our Privacy Policy.
9. Intellectual Property
Rafeeq, the Rafeeq brand, app design, visual assets, and underlying technology are owned by Ahmed Haffar. You may not:
- • Copy, reproduce, or redistribute the Rafeeq app or brand assets
- • Use "Rafeeq" or "رفيق" branding without written permission
- • Build competing products based on Rafeeq's design or technology
10. Termination
- By you — You may delete your account at any time within the app. Data deletion follows the process described in our Privacy Policy.
- By us — We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. We will provide notice unless the violation is severe or ongoing (e.g., illegal content, repeated harassment of workers or family members).
- Effect — Your access to the service ends immediately upon termination. Data handling follows the Privacy Policy.
11. Disclaimers
Rafeeq is provided "as is" during the beta period. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
- • We make no warranty that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or bug-free
- • We make no warranty that AI suggestions are accurate, complete, or suitable for any specific purpose
- • AI suggestions are not professional advice — they are not financial advice, medical advice, legal advice, or child development advice. Consult qualified professionals for those needs.
- • We are not responsible for decisions made based on AI-generated suggestions
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Kuwait law:
- • Rafeeq's total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months prior to the claim
- • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- • During the free beta program, the service is provided as-is and Rafeeq's liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law
Note: This section will be reviewed by a licensed attorney before public launch. Kuwait consumer law may modify these limitations.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kuwait. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Rafeeq shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Kuwait courts.
Rafeeq is operated by Ahmed Haffar. Legal entity registration in Kuwait is in progress; these Terms will be updated once registration is complete.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as Rafeeq evolves from beta to public launch. For significant changes, we will notify you via in-app notification or SMS to your registered phone number. Continued use of Rafeeq after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance.
For material changes — particularly the transition from beta to public launch, or changes to data practices, payment terms, or user rights — we will present updated Terms in-app and require your affirmative acceptance before you can continue using Rafeeq.
